| | | | | by Ed Benz posted 03/03/2010 The Hawks began their playoffs this Friday (3/5) morning by defeating the Florida Eels at Spacecoast Iceplex. In a wild affair, the Hawks' Sal Lucania finally sealed the deal with an empty net goal at 19:16 of the third and a Hawk 8-6 win. The Jacksonville Ice Dogs (#1 seed) then took on the Eels on Friday evening. In a mild upset, the Eels shutout the Ice Dogs with a 2-0 beauty by goaltender Jeremy Eck who stopped all 38 Ice Dog shots. This set up another Ice Dog / Hawks matchup on Saturday morning - the eighth of the season! The Hawks had taken the season series 4-3 but the Ice Dogs evened the series with a nail biting 4-3 win! The Hawks had to regroup to take on the Eels again on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks season came to an end in their second game of the day with a 6-3 Eel win. Sal Lucania ( 89' ) played to keep his junior career going with a goal and two assists, but it wasn't enough. Sal finished with 5 points on the weekend. Team Captian, Justin Jantzen ( 89' ), also saw his Jr career come to an end with a four goal/three assist weekend - Justin had a terriffic season, tied for 5th place in MET scoring! Sebastian Romeo had two goals and four assists while JP Larmoyeux had three goals and an assists to lead the Hawks on the weekend. In our inaugural Hawk season, this team put the league on notice that junior hockey is alive and well at Ice Zone in Lake Worth.
WE THANK YOU FOR A GREAT SEASON!!

The SEJHL Hawks weekend began with two 4-0 shutout wins but their season came to an end on Sunday at the hands of the Hampton Roads Whalers. The Whalers won the deciding game of the weekend 6-2 and with it, earned a trip to the Jr C Nationals. Congratulations to the Whalers on a great playoff weekend!
For the first year Hawks it was a tough ending to a great season. They finished the seaon with an impressive 28-8-1 overall record and were second only to the Atlanta Knights in league play with 24 wins! We are proud of our guys as they put in a great effort beginning early last summer and they helped put the Palm Beach Hawks organization on the map in Junior Hockey.
THANKS FOR A GREAT SEASON!!

The MET South Allstar forwards, Justin Jantzen, David Goff, Jordan John, Sebastian Romeo, defenseman Nick DiNardo, and goaltender Andrew Habasevich, drew the attention of several scouts this past weekend in Walpole, Mass during the allstar game.
"Our guys played great. I was very impressed with their performance and it was a pleasure watching them compete! I thought that they brought their "A" games and played at a very high level", stated Coach John Ambrefe.
Jantzen was named the team captain and was involved all over the ice as the team's leader. DiNardo played a solid, physical game on "D" and Habasevich, the starting goaltender, allowed only one goal in his stint in net. Our south team won the game 4-3 with Romeo netting the game winner! Coach Ambrefe is expecting their play to carry over into the final stretch of league games and hopefully, well into the playoffs. "We really need this group to continue this brand of hockey for the remainder of the season and take on leadership roles for our Hawk team !"

CONGRATULATIONS GUYS ON A JOB WELL DONE!!

| | | | by Ed Benz posted 02/04/2010 The Hawks were well represented in the SEJHL Allstar game sending nine players to Walpole, Ma. for the South team. The South team scored a power play goal to get the early lead and did some great work on the penalty kill, stopping 2 five on three North power plays in the first period! The South led 1-0 at the end of the 1st , led by the outstanding goaltending of Shayne Dietl. He played the first half of the game. The North scored early on in the 2nd with a 2 on 1 break to tie it up and again midway through the 2nd. Ryan Lopez hit a crossbar on a 2 on 1 break for the South and the period ended with the North leading 2-1. The North squad then scored 6 straight goals in the 3rd period to take a commanding 8-1 lead. Freddy Kasten finished off the scoring with a nice goal on a 4 on 1 break, roofing the puck past the North goaltender.
Coach Jeremy Worob " thought that our guys gave a good effort and made a very good game of it for two periods. Dietl did a great job while he was in net giving us a chance to win and our guys played pretty solid in the defensive zone. We just didn't click today on the offensive side! It was a fun experience for the players to participate in this event."
