HAWKS BEARING TOWARDS PLAYOFFS
The Palm Beach Hawks are playing their best hockey at the right time as they enter their playoff stretch run. The Hawks came back from the EJHL Winter Showcase in Marlborough, MA, sporting a very impressive 2-1 record. Palm Beach lost a tough one against the Springfield Pics of the EJHL North 5-4 in the last seconds of the game. “We had them 4-1 heading into the third period and gave it to them" stated Coach Ambrefe. The Springfield Pics is a great team; we just had a few defensive breakdowns that killed us.
Palm Beach came back and beat a very talented Canadian College team, Jeannois du Collège d''Alma CEGEP from Quebec 6-3. The last day of the showcase Palm Beach played an EJHL North powerhouse, New England Huskies. The Hawks fell behind quick 3-0. The Hawks came back to tie the game 3-3 going into the final period. Palm Beach dominated the third scoring four goals for a 7-5 victory. “It was a great victory for our program” commented Ambrefe. “We played great hockey for two thirds of the game. We fell asleep at the start but battled back and dominated zone play. Our boys grabbed the attention of a large number of scouts. Many of the schools in attendance were speaking to the boys at the end of the game” states Coach Ambrefe.
Palm Beach is currently in third in the EJHL South and is poised to move up!! We are playing great hockey now and we will feel confident with any seed. “I feel extremely comfortable with the player moves we made over the Christmas break. We added five top quality players to roster” added Ambrefe.
